Green Drinks

Gather with like-minded, environmentally aware folks at monthly Green Drinks gatherings for local networking and community building. This event is free and open to all. Support a local business by buying a beverage or pastry, and participate in lively conversations about the environment and ways to better care for where we live. Come for coffee, pastry and conversation!

Sponsored by the Ojai Valley Green Coalition, the Ojai Climate Action Network, and Pax Environmental Inc, future Green Drinks will take place at two locations: Three Birds (formerly at Ojai Rôtie) for informal gatherings on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00, and at Topa Topa Brewing Co. for more educational after-work programs once a quarter.

All We Can Save Circle

Are you hungry for deeper dialogue about the climate crisis and want to build community around solutions for our beautiful Ojai Valley and planet? We are too. That’s why the Ojai Valley Green Coalition is inviting you to join our new All We Can Save Circle.  Starting this Fall, over 8 sessions, we’ll follow the course of the All We Can Save anthology, designed to nurture connection, encourage generous dialogue, and seed action for climate solutions. It’s like a book club, but a cooler, deeper, extended version. Caring about the climate crisis can be incredibly isolating. Polling tells us climate conversations are few and far between, yet we know folks are ready to circle up in ways that connect, nourish, and seed action. We’re looking forward to forming this circle with you.

Led by Betsy Vanleit, the All We Can Save Circle will take place 6:00-7:30pm, every other Wednesday* starting on 9/18. Sessions will be held at the Ojai Library Conference Room. Participation is FREE but registration is required.

Details and link to register are also available on the Events page.

*Dates: 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/6, 11/20, 12/11, 12/18 (November schedule adjusted to avoid week of Thanksgiving)

8-acre Campus Community Service Grant, Project Overview:

In September 2022, the Ojai Valley Green Coalition (OVGC) received a Community Service Grant from the City to foster community engagement with Ojai residents. We began by offering a pilot training in Effective Collaboration Training (ECT) for individuals and organizations from October through December 2022. Our next initiative involved obtaining community input concerning the 8-Acre City Campus property. The goal of this project was to provide data and recommendations that the City and City Council could use to establish a clear vision for the site and suggestions for future directions. Our approach to working with community members was informed by the earlier ECT training that focused on best practices in communication, group discussion and decision-making, and inclusive methods of group facilitation.
